Grand Palais, Paris, France
2012 & 2013
Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Artistic Director of Hermès, had been considering the idea for a long time. Saddlers and harness-makers since 1837, Hermès has always been a partner in equestrian events, most notably supporting the Prix de Diane in Chantilly for 25 years.
But how to return the Grand Palais to its former equestrian glory? How could Hermès contribute to reigniting the equine tradition in the very centre of the capital, going back
to the days when show jumping competitions were held under the largest glass roof in Paris?
In 2010, Hermès launched the first Saut Hermès at the Grand Palais, organised with our partners, GL events, who specialisein events management and are widely renowned for their work for Equita’Lyon.
This time, though, the aim was to organise an international show jumping competition likely
to attract the world’s elite riders to one of the most emblematic locations in the capital.
The architect Didier Faustino has been designing the layout for the Saut Hermès since 2012. The galleries around the arena play host to saddlery craftsmen, a bookshop, giftshop, photographic studio, refreshment areas and a pony club.
